The rabies course and schedule

Pre-exposure rabies vaccination is a three-dose course, and there are two ways to run it:

The standard schedule suits trips planned a month or more ahead. The accelerated course exists for everyone else: where it's appropriate for you, it can be completed in seven days, which rescues plenty of last-minute itineraries. What vaccination does — and doesn't — do

We're always straight about this: pre-travel vaccination simplifies the treatment you need after a bite or scratch abroad, but it does not remove it. You must still seek urgent medical care; being vaccinated makes that treatment more straightforward, which matters most exactly where good healthcare is hardest to reach. Your pharmacist covers precisely what to do at your appointment, and you leave with it in writing.
