Younger children and infants follow age-based schedules, so we assess those individually rather than squeezing them into an adult timetable. A booster may be considered for people who remain at ongoing risk. The vaccine cannot protect against every MenB strain, and it does not cover meningococcal groups A, C, W or Y. That matters. If you need meningitis vaccination for Hajj, Umrah, certain countries, or university entry, the required vaccine may be MenACWY instead, or as well. Common reactions include a sore arm, headache, feeling unwell, muscle aches or nausea. Vaccination is usually delayed if you have a high fever.
