What vaccinations do you need for Hajj or Umrah?

Start with the one that isn't optional. A meningitis ACWY certificate is mandatory for your Saudi visa — the vaccine is a single dose, the certificate must be issued at least 10 days before you arrive in Saudi Arabia, and it's valid for five years. The Hajj is the most crowded gathering on earth, and crowds change the health arithmetic — especially for anything spread by food, water or close contact. Alongside the mandatory ACWY, pilgrims are commonly advised to consider:

When to book

Ideally, come in two to three weeks before you fly: it clears the certificate's 10-days-before-arrival rule with room to spare and lets any recommended vaccines settle in before the physical demands of the pilgrimage. But we know how pilgrimage logistics actually work — group places confirm late, travel agents move dates — so same-day appointments, often within 2 hours, keep last-minute pilgrims on track. The certificate leaves with you the same visit either way.
